CEMA aspires to be the Industry Association representing the leading North American manufacturers and designers of conveyor equipment systems and accessories. CEMA seeks to continue to be considered the resource for conveyor safety dimensional and application standards. CEMA actively promotes the capabilities of its members worldwide.

CEMA Membership extends to manufacturing companies that manufacture conveying equipment (Manufacturing Members), or to engineering companies that specify conveying equipment (Technical Members), and who have a presence in the United States, Canada, and Mexico - (NAFTA).

Its purpose is to promote, among its members and the industry, standardization of design manufacture and application on a voluntary basis and in such manner as will not impede development of conveying machinery and component parts or lessen competition.

It also collects monthly industry statistics, and addresses any issues of concern to the membership such as conveyor safety.

Its numerous member companies represent the full spectrum of the conveying industry. To accommodate different interest groups, the assocition organizes into sections, as required, to meet their needs. It is currently organized into six product sections:

  • Conveyor Chain
  • Conveyor Controls
  • General Bulk Handling
  • Palletizer
  • Screw Conveyor
  • Unit Handling Conveying

The Association has Three Major Meetings a Year.

  • The Annual Meeting meets in March from a Saturday through Wednesday.
CEMA Sections and Committees meet and discuss issues associated with the Association and with their segments of the industry and they participate in industry-relevant seminars and presentations. They also identify standards and other consensus projects for future development either by the Section or by the Engineering Conference.
  • The Fall Meeting in September on a Tuesday and Wednesday. (Chicago O'Hare Hilton Hotel)
CEMA Sections and Committees meet in September to set the agenda for the year, to follow up on issues of interest to CEMA and the Industry, and to review and endorse the products of the Engineering Conference.
  • The Engineering Conference meets in June from a Sunday through Wednesday.(LaPlaya Hotel, Naples, Florida.
The Engineering Conference allows Member Company Engineers to meet and develop or improve CEMA Consensus Industry Standards and National Standards that affect the conveyor industry. The conference includes a 3 hour continuing education block for Engineer Continuing Education credits.
