NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its April 2002 Booked Orders Index was 112 down 10 points or a decrease of 8% from March 2002’s Index of 122 (1990=100). The April 2002 Index represents a decrease of 34% from the April 2001 Index of 169.

April Booked Orders Indexes were 93 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 116 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 147 in April. Index represents a decrease of 3% from March 2002’s Twelve-Month Index of 151.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 168 in April down 36 points or a decrease of 18% from the March Index of 204. The April 2002 Index represents a decrease of 31% from the April 2001 Index of 242.

April Billed Sales Indexes were 84 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 168 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 216 in April. Index represents a decrease of 3% from March 2002’s Twelve-Month Index of 222.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
