RELEASE ON RECEIPT
NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that
its April 2003 Booked Orders Index was 139 down 64 points or a decrease of 32%
from March 2003's Index of 203 (1990=100). The April 2003 Index represents an
increase of 21% from the April 2002 Index of 115.
April Booked Orders Indexes were 105 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 147 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 135 in April. Index represents an increase of 2% from March 2003's Twelve-Month Index of 133.
The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 168 in April down 16 points or a decrease of 9% from the March Index of 184. The April 2003 Index represents a decrease of 1% from the April 2002 Index of 169.
April Billed Sales Indexes were 98 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 163 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 168 in April. Index represents
no change from March 2003's Twelve-Month Index of 168.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
