RELEASE ON RECEIPT

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its August 2004 Booked Orders Index was 174 up 49 points or an increase of 39% from July 2004's Index of 125 (1990=100). The August 2004 Index represents an increase of 50% from the August 2003 Index of 116.

August Booked Orders Indexes were 181 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 161 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 153 in August. Index represents a increase of 3% from July 2004's Twelve-Month Index of 148.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 176 in August up 12 points or an increase of 7% from the July Index of 164. The August 2004 Index represents an increase of 26% from the August 2003 Index of 140.

August Billed Sales Indexes were 174 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 182 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 150 in August. Index represents an increase of 2% from July 2004's Twelve-Month Index of 147.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
