Monthly Statistics Report News Release
August 2008
NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its August 2008 Booked Orders Index was 111 down 2 points or a decrease of 3% from July 2008's Index of 113 (1990=100). The August 2008 Index represents a decrease of 24% from the August 2007 Index of 146.
August Booked Orders Indexes were 205 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 76 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 145 in August. Index in August represents a decrease of 2% from July 2008's Twelve-Month Index of 148.
The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 142 in August. Index in August is down 1 point or 1% from July 2008's Index of 143. The August 2008 Index represents a decrease of 10 points or 7% from the August 2007 Index of 152.
August Billed Sales Indexes were 207 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 130 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 146 in August. Index in August
represents no change from July 2008's Twelve-Month Index of 146.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
