NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that
its December 2002 Booked Orders Index was 148 down 9 points or a decrease of
6% from November 2002's Index of 157 (1990=100). The December 2002 Index represents
an increase of 7% from the December 2001 Index of 138.
December Booked Orders Indexes were 74 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 175 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 132 in December. Index represents an increase of 1% from November 2002's Twelve-Month Index of 131.
The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 174 in December up 34 points or an increase of 24% from the November Index of 140. The December 2002 Index represents an increase of 8% from the December 2001 Index of 161.
December Billed Sales Indexes were 90 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 173 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 175 in December. Index represents
an increase of 1% from November 2002's Twelve-Month Index of 174.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
