Monthly Statistics Report News Release

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its February 2009 Booked Orders Index was 98 up 2 points or an increase of 2% from January 2009's Index of 96 (1990=100). The February 2009 Index represents a decrease of 32% from the February 2008 Index of 145.
February Booked Orders Indexes were 171 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 71 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 122 in February. Index in February represents a decrease of 3% from January 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 126.
The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 116 in February. Index in February is up 6 points or 5% from January 2009's Index of 110. The February 2009 Index represents a decrease of 21% from the February 2008 Index of 146.
February Billed Sales Indexes were 169 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 107 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 142 in February. Index in February represents a decrease of 2% from January 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 145.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly
and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes
for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total
of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
