RELEASE ON RECEIPT
NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that
its March 2004 Booked Orders Index was 187 up 78 points or an increase of 72%
from February 2004's Index of 109 (1990=100). The March 2004 Index represents
a decrease of 10% from the March 2003 Index of 208.
March Booked Orders Indexes were 193 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 171 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 140 in March. Index represents a decrease of 1% from February 2004's Twelve-Month Index of 142.
The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 185 in March up 45 points or an increase of 32% from the February Index of 140. The March 2004 Index represents an increase of 19% from the March 2003 Index of 155.
March Billed Sales Indexes were 176 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 192 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 142 in March. Index represents an increase of 1% from February 2004's Twelve-Month Index of 140.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
