Monthly Statistics Report News Release

MARCH 2005

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its March 2005 Booked Orders Index was 164 up 30 points or an increase of 22% from February 2005's Index of 134 (1990=100). The March 2005 Index represents a decrease of 11% from the March 2004 Index of 185.

March Booked Orders Indexes were 182 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 147 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 152 in March. Index represents a decrease of 1% from February 2005's Twelve-Month Index of 153.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 162 in March up 40 points or an increase of 33% from the February Index of 122. The March 2005 Index represents a decrease of 12% from the March 2004 Index of 184.

March Billed Sales Indexes were 176 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 161 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 168 in March. Index represents a decrease of 1% from February 2005's Twelve-Month Index of 170.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
