Monthly Statistics Report News Release

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its May 2009 Booked Orders Index was 108 up 4 points or an increase of 4% from April 2009's Index of 104 (1990=100). The May 2009 Index represents a decrease of 13% from the May 2008 Index of 124.

May Booked Orders Indexes were 173 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 84 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 117 in May. Index in May represents a decrease of 1% from April 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 118.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 107 in May. Index in May is down 6 points or 5% from April 2009's Index of 113. The May 2009 Index represents a decrease of 27% from the May 2008 Index of 146.

May Billed Sales Indexes were 171 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 93 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 135 in May. Index in May represents a decrease of 3% from April 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 139.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
