RELEASE ON RECEIPT
NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that
its October 2003 Booked Orders Index was 173 up 57 points or an increase of
49% from September 2003's Index of 116 (1990=100). The October 2003 Index represents
an increase of 30% from the October 2002 Index of 133.
October Booked Orders Indexes were 127 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 185 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 135 in October. Index represents an increase of 2% from September 2003's Twelve-Month Index of 132.
The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 177 in October up 42 points or an increase of 31% from the September Index of 135. The October 2003 Index represents an increase of 4% from the October 2002 Index of 170.
October Billed Sales Indexes were 127 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 161 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 166 in October. Index represents
no change from September 2003's Twelve-Month Index of 166.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
