RELEASE ON RECEIPT
NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that
its October 2004 Booked Orders Index was 153 down 3 points or a decrease of
2% from September 2004's Index of 156 (1990=100). The October 2004 Index represents
a decrease of 16% from the October 2003 Index of 183.
October Booked Orders Indexes were 212 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 120 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 154 in October. Index represents a decrease of 1% from September 2004's Twelve-Month Index of 156.
The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 157 in October down 72 points or a decrease of 31% from the September Index of 229. The October 2004 Index represents an increase of 5% from the October 2003 Index of 149.
October Billed Sales Indexes were 198 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 144 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).
The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 161 in October. Index represents
an increase of 1% from September 2004's Twelve-Month Index of 160.
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
