Monthly Statistics Report News Release

OCTOBER 2006

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its October 2006 Booked Orders Index was 125 down 77 points or a decrease of 38% from September 2006's Index of 202 (1990=100). The October 2006 Index represents a decrease of 23% from the October 2005 Index of 163.

October Booked Orders Indexes were 186 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 103 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 143 in October. Index in October is down 3 points or 2% from September 2006's Twelve-Month Index of 143.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 137 in October down 16 points or a decrease of 10% from the September Index of 153. The October 2006 Index represents an increase of 9% from the October 2005 Index of 126.

October Billed Sales Indexes were 187 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 132 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 144 in October. Index in October is up 1 point or 1% from September 2006's Twelve-Month Index of 143.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
