Monthly Statistics Report News Release

October 2008

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its October 2008 Booked Orders Index was 134 down 7 points or a decrease of 5% from September 2008's Index of 141 (1990=100). The October 2008 Index represents an increase of 3% from the October 2007 Index of 130.

October Booked Orders Indexes were 212 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 105 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 139 in October. Index in October represents no change from September 2008's Twelve-Month Index of 139.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 147 in October. Index in October is down 11 points or 7% from September 2008's Index of 158. The October 2008 Index represents an increase of 1 point or 1% from the October 2007 Index of 146.

October Billed Sales Indexes were 241 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 124 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 148 in October. Index in October represents no change from September 2008's Twelve-Month Index of 148.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
