Monthly Statistics Report News Release

NAPLES, FL. -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its September 2002 Booked Orders Index was 129 up 4 points or an increase of 3% from August 2002’s Index of 125 (1990=100). The September 2002 Index represents a decrease of 20% from the September 2001 Index of 161.

September Booked Orders Indexes were 68 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 148 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 133 in September. Index represents a decrease of 1% from August 2002’s Twelve-Month Index of 135.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 167 in September up 6 points or an increase of 4% from the August Index of 161. The September 2002 Index represents a decrease of 30% from the September 2001 Index of 237.

September Billed Sales Indexes were 80 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 169 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 184 in September. Index represents a decrease of 3% from August 2002’s Twelve-Month Index of 190.


* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly, they are averaged back to the two preceding months to enable a running monthly index.
